By connecting students to tailored STEM opportunities and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, the initiative aims to create a sustainable and diverse STEM workforce for Southern Nevada, ensuring students are prepared to excel in the rapidly evolving fields of science, technology, engineering, and medicine.

Outreach Program Highlights

🚀 As part of the Las Vegas STEM Pipeline Initiative, Dr. Luther Adair second visited Marion Elementary School to engage students in STEM education, promote career awareness, and introduce them to the field of radiology. The visit included interactive reading sessions, discussions about medical imaging, and a broader conversation about STEM pathways.

Objectives of the Visit:

  1. STEM Career Awareness: Introduce students to radiology, medical imaging, and broader STEM-related careers.
  2. Educational Engagement: Read my book, Learning About X-Rays with Lula and Ethan, to second and fifth graders.
  3. Pipeline Awareness: Distribute materials on the Las Vegas STEM Pipeline Initiative, helping students and families explore STEM opportunities.
  4. Interactive Learning: Encourage student participation through Q&A, real-world problem-solving, and critical thinking exercises.
  5. Mentorship & Role Modeling: Demonstrate that professionals in medicine and STEM fields come from diverse backgrounds and that these careers are achievable.

🚀 Dr. Adams, an anesthesiologist, discusses healthcare careers and pathways to becoming a physician at Red Rock Elementary School, highlighting Nevada’s healthcare accessibility issues and the Las Vegas STEM Pipeline Initiative. The lecture covers medical education, self-motivation, and the impact of social media.
