Las Vegas STEM Pipeline Initiative
Objective
To build a robust network of healthcare and STEM thought leaders in Las Vegas that provides guidance, resources, and support to existing educational pipelines. By connecting students to tailored STEM opportunities and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, the initiative aims to create a sustainable and diverse STEM workforce for Southern Nevada, ensuring students are prepared to excel in the rapidly evolving fields of science, technology, engineering, and medicine.
Activities
1. Inaugural Dinner
Hosted by the Adair Family Foundation to unite STEM and healthcare leaders in Las Vegas.
2. Volunteer Program
Engaging professionals to speak to Clark County public schools about STEM and healthcare careers. Data from these will be used to publish a paper using pre and post-tests administered to instructors and teachers.
3. STEM Tool Development
AI-driven tool matching students to Nevada STEM programs based on their unique interests. Data from these will be used to publish a paper assessing the validity of criteria that achieve successful matches between students and STEM pipelines.
4. Event Sponsorship
Supporting the UNLV Black Excellence Medical School Soirée in March 2025.
